Plant Disease Diagnostic Lab Highlights  

The following plant disease highlights from the UK Plant Disease Diagnostic Laboratories represent recent sample submissions from field crops, fruit, vegetables, and ornamentals.

During the past week, diagnoses included sudden death syndrome and charcoal rot on soybean; brown spot, target spot, and frogeye on tobacco; thread blight on apple; bacterial spot on pepper; and Septoria leaf spot on tomato.

On ornamentals and turf, we diagnosed bacterial spot and Cercospora leaf spot on hydrangea; rosette disease on rose; Rhizosphaera needlecast on spruce; Cytospora canker on willow; brown patch on fescue and anthracnose on perennial ryegrass.
